Vacancy Details

A busy, established Medical Centre has a full-time position available for a General Practitioner or Rural Generalist.

Working with a wide variety of patient demographics you will be supported by seven Rural Generalists/General Practitioners and two Registrars along with nursing and support staff. There is a local rural hospital and ambulance service available.

The doctors have VMO rights at the local hospital for inpatient admissions, anaesthetics and emergency. Applicants with existing procedural skills would be desirable, but not essential. Successful applicants would be supported to develop necessary skills and expand their scope of practice if required. The after-hours roster is fully supported by the hospital nursing staff who triage all presentations prior to contacting the on-call doctor. The on-call roster is shared amongst the local doctors. There would also be opportunity for a Rural Generalist with non-procedural advances skills such as palliative medicine, mental health or adult internal medicine to develop or expand existing services provided by the current medical team.

The successful doctor will be provided with an orientation and induction into the practice and ongoing mentorship is available. A supporting, welcoming staff will help the new doctor and family to settle into the community with assistance to access accommodation, schooling, sporting and recreational activities and community organisations.

Mount Beauty Medical Centre is an accredited, fully computerised teaching practice, strongly committed to rural medicine. The state-of-the-art facilities include seven consulting rooms, one student consulting room, allied health room and a treatment room equipped for ECG, spirometry, vaccination, X-ray, bedside ultrasound, minor procedures and general medical assessments.

An experienced, professional practice team ensures a holistic approach to health and well-being. Practice doctors are supported by a practice manager, reception and nursing staff, and a team of allied health professionals including diabetes educator, dietician, podiatrist, pathology collector, and a mental health worker. The practice also has a visiting cardiologist and general surgeon.
