....The Next Generation of Rural Doctors

Mount Beauty Medical Centre is strongly committed to Rural General Practice as a profession and are aware of the critical importance of training new doctors to provide care for rural communities in the future.

The practice regularly hosts undergraduate Medical Students from the University of New South Wales, Melbourne, Monash and Sydney Universities as well as elective students from overseas.

The practice is able to provide a unique learning environment for these students and we know that a positive experience can encourage a future doctor to pursue a rural career.

We are grateful for the essential part our patients play in helping young doctors in their learning.

Our patients are informed prior to the consultation if a medical student might be present. We understand that there may be times when you might prefer a student not to be present. In such cases we encourage you to let our receptionist or your doctor know.

We are fortunate to have two Medical Students from the University of Melbourne Rural Clinical School for the best part of an academic year. This is an important opportunity for them to gain an solid grounding in Rural General Practice and we welcome them into our team and community.

The Murray to Mountains Intern Program

Mount Beauty Medical Centre is involved in the Murray to the Mountains Intern Program where a medical intern spends 20 weeks of the year gaining valuable experience and training in General Practice. We look forward to welcoming a new intern in June 2024.
