Dr Matt McAlpine

Matt grew up in Tumut at the foot of the NSW Snowy Mountains, and got a taste for the joys of rural general practice from a young age watching his Dad work as a GP Obstetrician. After completing high school in Wollongong he studied medicine at the Western Sydney University, graduating in 2014. Matt then moved to Orange in Western NSW for his internship and residency, developing a special interest in paediatrics, mental health and emergency medicine. He has a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery, Diploma of Child Health and Master of International Public Health.

Matt takes every opportunity to travel and after backpacking through each continent in 2017 he is currently hooked on altitude trekking, climbing above 5500m in Nepal, Tanzania and Bolivia.
With a surname like McAlpine, Mount Beauty seemed like the perfect place to train in General Practice and Matt is excited to get amongst the mountains and contribute to this wonderful community.
