Mount Beauty Medical Centre no long operates Falls Creek Medical Centre

Mount Beauty Medical Centre is no longer involved in the operation of Falls Creek Medical Centre.
In October 2023, at the end of the Season and after nearly 40 years of providing a regular 24/7 Winter emergency and GP service at Falls Creek, we handed the lease and the keys to the Medical Centre back to Falls Creek Resort Management.

Unfortunately we had always struggled to achieve a viable business model at Falls Creek. We were never able to cover the expenses and demands of running an emergency centre in an Alpine environment. Fees were becoming unreasonably high and our business at Mount Beauty was suffering.

We have never had the resources needed to invest adequately in the standard of equipment and facilities that our patients deserve and expect.

We have left with many good memories of being able to help injured skiers and snowboarders over the years, and helping people with the many other medical issues that arise.

We all enjoyed the often-challenging work. In particular our close collaboration with our colleagues in Ski Patrol and Ambulance Victoria was always rewarding.

We are also grateful for the support provided to us by Falls Creek Resort Management over the years, not least the extra-ordinary measures required to maintain safety during the Covid pandemic.

We understand the critical role that the Medical Centre plays in the operation of Falls Creek Resort and we hope that FCRM and our successors will be able to achieve a positive future for the Medical Centre.
